Orbis Buys LINPAC's North American Division

ORBIS Corporation, one of the largest plastic pallet and container companies in the United States, recently bought the North American material handling business of LINPAC Group Limited, Birmingham, England. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquired LINPAC business manufactures bulk containers and pallets used in automotive, food, beverage and general industrial applications. Included in the purchase are manufacturing facilities in Georgetown and Bardstown, Kent. LINPAC's materials handling business has approximately 285 employees in North America. The transaction also includes LINPAC's sales, engineering and testing capabilities in Shanghai, China.
According to Jim Kotek, president of ORBIS, the acquisition boosts ORBIS’ product line and manufacturing capacity while extending the company’s reach into China.
LINPAC Materials Handling is part of LINPAC Group, formed in 1959. Its principle activities are in plastic returnable materials handling products and services, which are used predominantly in the food, retail, automotive and beverage markets. LINPAC Materials Handling in Europe is being strengthened by the recently announced acquisition of Allibert and will continue to focus on the retail, automotive and industrial sectors.
